Cloverdale Then and Now

Here is a photo comparison of Cloverdale since the 50’s. I guess one of the biggest differences is all the power lines were moved to the rear of the buildings. That in it self is a huge change. The other change is there are no longer any service/gas stations on 176th street anymore. Some of the other changes that are noticeable is there was a very diverse retail component. And over the years even that has changed, due to many number of factors including large box stores and large retail chain stores. Twenty or so years ago we were the antique capital, now were are evolving again, with many new restaurants and hair salons/barbers and beauty salons as well as a lot of service industries. Cloverdale has a lot of history and a lot of it can be seen if you know what to look for. Check out this website on Cloverdale’s history. https://www.surreyhistory.ca/walkingtour.html
